
The Louisville Regional Airport Authority is an independent public agency established by a special act of the General Assembly in 1928. It operates both Louisville International Airport and Bowman Field in Louisville. An eleven member Board-- comprised of the Mayor of Louisville, seven mayoral and three gubernatorial appointees hire the executive director, approve the budget and set policy for the overall direction of the agency.
Board policies are implemented and day-to-day operations and maintenance are handled by a staff of about 200 under the direction of the executive director.
