Louisville International Airport Brings Free Wi-Fi to Passengers

February 28, 2014

The Louisville Regional Airport Authority announced that passengers who want to check email, post to Facebook or catch up on the news while at the Louisville International Airport now can do it for free beginning today, Friday, February 28 on the airport’s public Wi-Fi network. The complimentary service is provided by the airport’s longtime Wi-Fi provider, Boingo Wireless, using the company’s industry-leading media platform to provide free Wi-Fi through advertising sponsorships. Louisville passengers can enjoy 20 minutes of free Wi-Fi access after watching an ad, completing a survey or downloading an app.

“Free Wi-Fi is one of our most requested passenger amenities, and we’re delighted to offer a complimentary access option to our travelers,” said Skip Miller, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. The airport also will offer premium Wi-Fi access options to travelers who wish to engage in higher-bandwidth activities, like streaming high definition video or uploading large files. Hourly, daily and monthly access options will still be offered via Boingo.

“With demand for Wi-Fi on the rise, our service provides sponsorship-supported free Wi-Fi for the casual user while ensuring that heavy users don’t compromise the integrity of the network,” said Zack Sterngold, vice president of business development for Boingo Wireless. “Premium service for high-bandwidth users allows us to continue to invest in the network and provide access for the exploding number of users who want to get connected.”
