Getting To and From the Airport

Getting in and out of an airport can seem stressful – luckily, at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, we have plenty of options to make your visit a breeze. Whether you’re arriving or departing, we’re here to help.

IMPORTANT: I-65 Central Corridor Project
Temporary Closure from June 1-July 31, 2026

From June 1 through July 31, I-65 from I-264 (Watterson Expressway) to the Jefferson Street exit in downtown Louisville will be temporarily closed for the I-65 Central Corridor Project.

During this time, the airport will remain accessible by:

  • Exit 11 from I-264 (Watterson Expressway), from both eastbound and westbound
  • The airport’s west entrance that is located directly off Crittenden Drive
From Crittenden Drive, motorists turn left onto Martha Moloney Drive. This is across from the USPS Air Mail Facility (4440 Crittenden Drive) and next to the I-264 interchange at Crittenden Drive.

Note: If traveling on I-65 northbound (coming from the south), follow the airport detour signs towards I-264 west. Motorists will need to be in the two LEFT LANES for airport access, as if you were going towards I-264 west.

Those traveling to the airport during this temporary closure of I-65, especially for a departing flight, are strongly encouraged to monitor traffic conditions before heading to the airport and plan accordingly to allow for additional time if needed. Heavy traffic in and around the area of the airport is possible due to detours related to the I-65 closure.
