Airport Authority Announces New Director of Public Safety

James P. Sohan has been named the LRAA’s Director of Public Safety, effective July 16. In this position, Jim will oversee public safety functions at Louisville International Airport (SDF) and Bowman Field (LOU), which includes police, fire fighting, EMS and dispatch services. Prior to coming to the airport, Jim served as a police officer for the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) for 22 years.

He retired on January 1, 2011, from the LMPD with the rank of Major/3rd Division Commander. Jim also served 10 years as a captain at Camp Taylor Fire Department and as a firefighter with the Fern Creek Fire Department. He has a bachelor degree in criminal justice from the University of Louisville and has passed all national certifications with the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).
