Allegiant Announces New, Nonstop Service to Austin

June 29, 2021

Announcement marks new record of 36 nonstop destinations

Today Allegiant Air announced new, nonstop service to Texas’ Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) from Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) beginning November 18, 2021, marking a new record high of 36 nonstop destinations for the airport. These flights provide convenient connectivity between bourbon country and the live music capital of the world.

“We are grateful that Allegiant sees the strength of the Louisville market and continues to invest in our community with service to Austin,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority. “There is a lot of positive momentum at SDF as we continue to see robust air service growth and passenger traffic climbing to near record levels. Today’s announcement from Allegiant is another great win for area travelers and we appreciate their on-going commitment to the airport.”

The year-round flights will be offered twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, using an Airbus A320 with 186-seats. To celebrate, Allegiant is offering special, low-fares on-sale now at www.Allegiant.com.

“Just over two years ago, Louisville became a Microsoft regional hub for artificial intelligence, data science and the internet of things. This new flight will give us a direct connection to Austin’s growing tech industry as we continue to grow and diversify our tech talent pipeline through partnerships with Microsoft, IBM, Humana, General Assembly and others,” said Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer. “Thank you, Allegiant, for your continued commitment to expanding air service in Louisville.”

Austin is one of the largest unserved markets from SDF. The area, affectionately known as “Silicon Hills” for its emergence as a popular destination for high-tech companies, is also one of the nation’s fastest growing cities and a popular tourist destination.

Beginning service at SDF in 2017, Allegiant has rapidly grown to 12 nonstop routes following today’s announcement. In addition to Austin, Allegiant also offers nonstop service to Charleston, SC, Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, New Orleans, Orland-Sanford, Punta Gorda, St. Petersburg-Clearwater, Savannah and Sarasota.

“It’s certainly a very exciting time for Louisville as we continue to welcome pivotal airlift growth. By expanding nonstop service to Austin, travelers will conveniently be able to enjoy each city’s renowned music scene – along with the Urban Bourbon Trail cocktail and culinary experience in Louisville and world-famous barbecue in the Lone Star State,” said Cleo Battle, Chief Operating Officer of Louisville Tourism. “As Louisville’s air service expands, we continue to see airlines like Allegiant looking to invest in our city and capitalize on our upward momentum. Ultimately, new routes like this will help us welcome additional leisure and business travelers, getting us closer and closer to our long-term goal of 25 million visitors by 2030.”
