Flights provide an easy, affordable getaway to the Big Easy

Today Breeze Airways resumed nonstop service at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) for New Orleans (MSY). The returning route gives travelers from the region a quick, direct connection to one of the most distinctive cities in the United States. It also provides visitors from the Gulf Coast an easy way to experience Louisville’s hospitality, bourbon heritage and culinary scene.

“We welcome the return of Breeze’s nonstop service to New Orleans,” said Dan Mann, Executive Director of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority, which owns and operates SDF. “New Orleans has consistently been a popular destination for our community, and this route makes it easier than ever for travelers to enjoy the food, music and culture of the Big Easy. We appreciate Breeze’s continued investment in Louisville and its commitment to providing convenient, affordable nonstop options for our passengers.”

New Orleans is unlike anywhere else. Travelers can stroll the historic French Quarter, catch live jazz on Frenchmen Street, ride the St. Charles streetcar past the grand homes of the Garden District and enjoy world-famous Creole and Cajun cuisine, from beignets and po’boys to gumbo and crawfish étouffée. The city’s calendar is packed year-round with celebrations, including Mardi Gras, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and French Quarter Fest, making it an ideal destination for weekend getaways, girls’ trips, family vacations and special occasions.

Two Cities, Shared Spirit

Louisville and New Orleans share a love of food, music, festivals, and a well-crafted drink. Louisville is the birthplace of the Old Fashioned and the heart of Bourbon Country, while New Orleans claims the Sazerac, considered by many as a cousin to the Old Fashioned, as its official cocktail. Both cities are known for world-class celebrations, with the Kentucky Derby and Mardi Gras among the most iconic events in the country. With nonstop service returning, travelers in both cities can enjoy each other’s culture in just a short flight.

“Breeze Airways’ continued growth at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport is a strong vote of confidence in our community,” added Anthony Gilmer, Vice President of Air Service Development and Strategic Marketing for the Airport Authority. “Louisville and New Orleans share centuries-old ties rooted in trade, river commerce and culture that have connected these two iconic American cities for generations. This nonstop service builds on that history, giving travelers more affordable options and bringing new visitors and business to our region. We appreciate Breeze’s partnership and look forward to our continued growth.”

Breeze has continued investing and seeing strong growth in its service at SDF. In addition to the return of New Orleans service, Breeze also launched new flights to Pittsburgh and new, seasonal service to both Los Angeles and Hartford. Plus, increased its service to Tampa from summer-only to year-round as well as upping their flights to Fort Myers from twice to four times weekly during the winter and spring.

Service to New Orleans will be offered year-round from SDF twice a week on Mondays and Fridays using a 137-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft.

At SDF, Breeze offers nonstop service to nine cities from SDF including Charleston, Fort Myers, Hartford, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Raleigh/Durham, San Francisco and Tampa.

Breeze Airways has quickly become known for offering affordable, premium leisure travel with a focus on underserved routes and convenient nonstop service between secondary markets.
