Below is information related to the aircraft incident involving UPS Flight No. 2976 that occurred on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 on departure from Runway 17R/35L, or the West Runway, at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF).

November 6, 2025 at 5:45 p.m. ET:
From Executive Director Dan Mann – “On Thursday, November 6 at approximately 4:45 p.m. ET, Runway 17R/35L, or the West Runway, at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) returned to service following an aircraft incident earlier in the week. With this, all three runways at SDF are now available for use and the airfield is fully operational to aircraft.

The SDF team continues to keep the victims, their families and our community in our hearts following this tragic incident. I sincerely appreciate the SDF Public Safety Department for their quick response as the first units to the scene as well as the actions of so many mutual aid agencies from the city and across the state during this time.”

November 5, 2025 at 9:00 p.m. ET:
Airfield Update : Runway 17L/35R (East Runway) is now open following yesterday’s aircraft incident at SDF. With the addition of the East Runway, this means two of SDF’s three runways are available for aircraft operations.

November 5, 2025 at 4:50 p.m. ET:
Any traveler scheduled to depart from or arrive to the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) tonight or tomorrow should closely monitor their flight status. The airfield is open and SDF has resumed nearly normal aircraft operations.

November 5, 2025 at 7:40 a.m. ET:
At this time, Runway 11/29 is open at SDF and the airport is available for aircraft operations. TSA screening remains on-going this morning for departing passengers. Anyone scheduled to depart or arrive at SDF today is encouraged to closely monitor their flight status as delays and cancellations are likely following yesterday’s incident.

November 4, 2025 at 11:45 p.m. ET:
Any traveler scheduled to depart from or arrive to the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) tomorrow, November 5, should closely monitor their flight status as delays and cancellations are likely following today’s aircraft incident involving UPS flight no. 2976. The airfield is expected to be available for passenger and cargo operations tomorrow.

Officials at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) have been in contact with the NTSB, who will be on-site tomorrow, November 5. Information regarding any media briefings following their arrival will be communicated accordingly.
