Acoustical Testing on the University of Louisville’s Belknap Campus

Friday, April 29 through Wednesday, May 4

Daily: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Who: The Louisville Regional Airport Authority’s contractor— C and S Engineering—under the FAA-sponsored Aircraft Noise Mitigation Program

What: Acoustical testing of various campus buildings, involving the amplification of periodic, static-sounding noise— about 100 dBs (equivalent to the noise of a chain saw, lawn mower or shop vacuum) will be heard throughout the campus.

• In addition, testing personnel will enter and exit the buildings to collect the test results.

Where: Various buildings on the U of L’s Belknap Campus (See list below.)

Why: As part of its commitment to the FAA in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Louisville Airport Improvement Program (LAIP), the Airport Authority is working with the U of L to develop plans to minimize aircraft noise in eligible buildings on the University’s Belknap Campus, just north of Louisville International Airport’s (SDF) West Parallel Runway (17R/35L).
