Cleo Battle Appointed to Airport Authority Board

Cleo Battle was recently appointed by Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer to the Board of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority for a four-year term through July 2024. He replaces Earl F. Jones, Jr., whose term expired following 16 years of service.

The Louisville Regional Airport Authority owns, operates and develops the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) and Bowman Field Airport (LOU).

Mr. Battle currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Louisville Tourism, which is Jefferson County’s convention and visitors’ agency that attracts visitors to Jefferson County, for leisure, corporate, meetings and conventions.  The agency also provides resources and support to the local hospitality and tourism industry.

Prior to his time at Louisville Tourism, Mr. Battle’s experience included 12 years at the Richmond Convention and Visitors Bureau in Richmond, VA where he served as the Vice President of Sales and Services, Director of Sales and Sales Manager. In addition, he also worked in the hotel industry for Embassy Suites, Holiday Inn and Sheraton Hotels.

Mr. Battle currently serves on the Board of Directors for Meeting Planners International, the Kentucky Derby Museum, the Louisville Sports Commission, the Louisville Zoo Foundation and the Northeast YMCA of Louisville. He is the Past Chair of the Destination & Travel Foundation, Destination International Sales & Services Committee and the Virginia State University Hospitality Department Advisory Board.

A native of Denver, CO, Mr. Battle received his bachelor’s degree from Metropolitan State University in his hometown and his Master of Business Administration from Averett University in Virginia. He is also a Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) and Certified Association Sales Executive (CASE).
